IT-based Law Enforcement
New technologies, new sales channels and new media offers repeatedly present rights-holders with new challenges. That is because the availability of innovative and attractive offers is frequently also associated with new forms of rights infringements.
Since our law firm was established, we have been closely monitoring and supporting new technological developments which have an impact on rights exploitation, and above all on the pursuit and enforcement of rights. Over many years, we have acquired the technological and legal knowledge to be able to effectively counter rights infringements, especially in digital networks.
And we have also gone a step further: through the systematic use of IT, we have not only established the conditions for making the day-to-day work of the lawyer more efficient, but we employ IT across the entire process of enforcing rights. Depending on the circumstances of the case, this starts with investigating and recording rights violations, including documentation which will stand up in court. Together with our IT partners, we have developed a system whereby automated transfer of existing documentation and case information is also possible. Once the data is recorded, we not only use the available information in the enforcement of rights: we also use intelligent databases when applying the law, for instance in asking whether there is a legal claim at all and the level at which it can be enforced. This enables early assessment of the opportunities and risks in enforcing rights for each individual case, and allows alternative options for action to be derived for our clients.
In the interests of our clients, we also exploit IT in analysing and documenting the efficiency of our own services. This allows our clients to see precisely what value our work has for them.
